My own founder journey.
I've spent over 20 years in the global fashion and retail industries, as a senior leader, as a founder, and as a fractional executive.
The first 15 years were in brand, retail and marketing leadership roles for global outdoor brands and major fashion retailers across Australia, Asia Pacific, the UK and Europe, including French Connection, Ozmosis, Just Group, and as global trade marketing director at Quiksilver, Roxy and DC. That's where I learned what good looks like at scale: the systems, the strategic rigour, and the discipline of brands operating across global markets.
Then I left to build something of my own. For the last ten years I've run Nouvelle Nomad, a homewares, travel and lifestyle brand, between Marrakech, Melbourne and London. I built the ecommerce engine from scratch in the early days of Shopify, shipped thousands of hand-restored vintage carpets and artisan goods around the world, fought through the realities of international importing and logistics, managed a self-funded P&L, opened large-format showrooms and pop-ups, and built collaborations with much-loved homewares brands, stylists and retailers.
That decade taught me more about running an international business than any corporate role could. So when you tell me about your supply chain headache, your cash flow squeeze, or the launch that's stalling, I'm not advising from theory. I've had the same problems to solve with my own money on the line.
